Richard Kranitz practices in the areas of business and nonprofit law. Over his lengthy legal career he has represented entrepreneurs and businesses in a variety of industries and at alll stages of development from startups to hundred year old companies. He has had substantial experience in tax planning, securities, litigation and estate planning, but currently focuses on transactional work for businesses and nonprofit entities and estate planning for business owners and other individuals. He served as an officer and/or director of numerous businesses ranging in size from startup to firms with hundreds of investors.
Thoughout his career he has also represented many non-profit entities, including professional, community and charitable organizations, educational institutions, foundations and economic development groups. He has served as an officer and/or director of many of them.
He served many of his clients over long periods of time. Some were rapid-growth entities. Because of his experience as an officer and/or director of many of them, he has developed substantial experience in dealing with the opportunities and challenges of rapidly developing enterprises. He is trained and experienced as a business coach, and devotes some time currently to assisting clients on business issues.
Some of his clients have conducted business outside the United States. He has been involved in business development projects overseas in several countries and served on the boards of foreign companies.
Graduate of University of Wisconsin Law School, graduating in the top 10% of his class; and the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee undergraduate with Honors. College Debater. Certified as Business Coach. After graduation from law school served as a law clerk for a federal judge serving in both the Eastern District of Wisconsin court and on selected cases in the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.
